Lou Mathieu: „It was a big joy to play 5on5 again »

Lou Mathieu and her team AB Contern are currently practicing in order to prepare for the restart in the women’s Total League.

Mathieu says that there are mixed emotions involved in the process: „On one side, it is great to practice under normal conditions while on the other side the Covid-situation remains on the back of our heads, especially because some of our players are still living together with their parents. »

At this moment, everybody hopes that the season will not only continue but also be played until the end in order to have a meaningful and fair winner in the end. For 26-year old Mathieu, it was a relief to play 5on5 again: „After months without playing, it was great to be back in the gym and interact with my teammates. It was also special and a big joy to play 5on5 again after practicing individually for a long time. When you are playing and competing against other players, you can forget about the Covid-virus for a moment. »

Contern has decided to play with only 1 professional player for the rest of the season. This obviously reduces their chances to compete with the best teams, other things need to be focused on. „The main goal is not to win every game but to represent our club in the best possible way and to get better individually and as a group. It is a great opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season when everything will hopefully be normal again. »
