The next coach we present in our interviews needs no introduction. National team head coach and coach of T71’s men team Ken Diederich talks about Luxembourg and his passion for coaching.
What do you like about our country?
Luxembourg is my home country, I like the diversity and the proximity to a lot of other countries. I believe the quality of living in Luxembourg is very high and I would not want to live anywhere else.
What are your ambitions/goals at the FLBB?
My ambition is to raise basketball in Luxembourg to the highest level possible. Our results over the last years are confirming our work. My goal is to put Luxembourg on the basketball map, win and compete in every game we play in.
What are your main challenges in your coaching mission for the FLBB?
We need more young players to become professional players. We are maximizing our results lately, however, in order to win constantly, we need more professional players on the National Team.
I really enjoy each practice and game with the National Team. The players and officials are doing a fantastic job.
How does a work day in your life look like?
My day consists of 2 parts: in the mornings I teach physical education for about 4 hours and in the afternoon I prepare my practices, scout teams, talk to my players and have individual workouts. At night I usually have practice or a game. Being the National team coach and a club coach does not give a lot of free time.
Can you shortly describe your coaching philosophy?
I want to play fast and simple basketball. Quick decisions with and without the ball. Transition basketball with hard nosed defense, where players enjoy the game and being around each other.
